In addition to the overall prize money, there is also the added bonuses of all the speciality awards and their prize money. This includes the R5,000 Von Zipper Deep Throat Award, the R5,000 DaKine Ikaika Award, the R10,000 Billabong Biggest Tube Award and the R30,000 Sensi Threads Biggest Wave Award, which brings the total event prize pool to R350,000.

Billabong Biggest Tube Award
Every year there are a couple of really massive tube opportunities at Dungeons, and always a surfer ready and brave enough to pull in. Surfers like Grant Baker has pulled into some big ones in and out of the event, as has Chris Bertish and Sean Holmes. The last person to win this award was Jason Ribbink from Durban, who pulled into a giant cavern when the event ran in 2006. The prize for the surfer who gets the biggest tube is a cool ten thousand Rand.

All 24 surfers who have been invited to compete in the Red Bull Big Wave Africa are notorious for charging in big surf. Sometimes, over the waiting period, one of these surfers gets presented with a few more chances to prove himself, to take some late drops, to push the limits. Von Zipper have put up a prize of five thousand Rand for this surfer who stands out amongst his peers for being the most gung-ho, and the most courageous.

Sensi Threads Biggest Wave Award
Whenever a big wave session or event goes down, there are always a couple of outside sets of giant waves that pour through. When these sets arrive there are always a couple of surfers in position. Sometimes they'll go, sometimes they might hold back. Sometimes these waves are just too big to be caught and ridden. When a surfer does catch one of the really big ones and rides it, they will be eligible for the Sensi Threads Biggest Wave Award. Valued at a hefty thirty thousand Rand.

DaKine Ikaika Award
Ikaika is Hawaiian for warrior, and DaKine have put up a five thousand Rand prize for something spectacular that happens during the Red Bull Big Wave Africa event. The criteria to win this prize will reveal itself on the day. Something extreme, something out-of-the-ordinary, Dungeons undoubtedly lends itself to produce the conditions needed for something extraordinary.
