Extra! Extra! Sofia Es Muy Bueno!

It's no secret that Sofia Mulanovich is hands down one of the best female surfers in the world, but this god-given talent has also helped elevate her to the status of a national icon in Peru. For those of you who are fluent in Spanish, Peruvian newspaper El Comercio recently put a huge cover story together about her and boxing champ Kina Malpartida. Before going down their own respective paths, the two Peruvian heroes grew up together playing in and around Punta Hermosa and Lima. Of course the life of a surfer and the life of a boxer are quite different, but as Sofia's mom testified, "They have a lot in common still, it's not easy having the eyes of a country on you. They don't see each other often anymore, but they have a lot in common and will always be friends."
