SUPER GROM
His blonde hair makes moms say, “Awwww.” His forehand cutty makes dads gasp. And his air reverses make his peers shudder. He’s 14 years old and has already made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show. Kolohe’s been in more advertisements than surfers twice his age. His travel schedule reads like a seasoned ‘CT vet. And somehow he keeps his feet on the ground and remains in awe of it all. With his dad Dino’s guidance, he’s become the surf world’s media darling and brainchild. Kolohe is charismatic, well mannered, and has an affinity for dark and moody ‘80s music. Thanks to his little sister he’s got a nickname, Brother, heard ‘round the world.

While it’s hard to find anything negative to report on him, if he can keep himself motivated through his teenage years, Kolohe Andino could very well be a quintessential California surf star like we’ve never seen before. His surf style is a product of countless hours of watching Taj Burrow and Mick Fanning, reinforced by years on the road surfing world class waves at an age when most of his classmates are just beginning to be allowed to cross the street.

Last year on the NSSA Kolohe posted more wins than any other surfer with an incredible 13 –– a number that could have been higher had he not missed a few contests with a minor knee injury. At Nationals he surfs in more divisions than any other kid, plays more ping pong than anyone, and will blow more beachgoers minds than anyone.

SO, YOU WANNA BE A CHAMPION
Kolohe’s a six-time NSSA National champ, a member of the 2007 USA Surf Team and he’s won more contests before his teenage years than many seasoned veterans do in their entire careers. His competitive savvy, mixed with his ability to handle the attention have made him one of the most well known surfers in the world.
    
His competition skills are backed up with an in-depth repertoire of tricks, airs and a travel schedule that would make the most seasoned traveler nervous. Be prepared to see him on top of podiums for years to come.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, KOLOHE
Not many amateurs can say they’ve been featured in some of the biggest surf films to come out in the last few years. But if you’re Kolohe, seeing yourself shredding against the big boys is no biggie.
   
Billabong’s latest surf film, Frothing opens with Andy Irons, Taj Burrow and Joel Parkinson talking about Brother. Imagine that? The world’s best surfers talking about a 14-year-old like they idolize him. He then backs it up with some of the most stylish surfing in the movie and a bag of tricks to boot.
   
Kolohe also just returned from a trip to the Mentawaiis with fellow grom shredders Evan Geiselma, Luke Davis and Keanu Asing for the filming of Chris Malloy’s next project, “One Track Mind.”  The film will feature Kolohe and his road to becoming one of the world’s best surfers. The film chronicles the making of the world’s next great surfer by looking at the current generation and their protégés.
