ASP World Tour Bio:
If 2006 was the year that got away for Mick Fanning, 2007 was the one that didn't. Mick kick started the year with a home town win on the Gold Coast of Australia and followed it with an astonishingly consistent campaign to claim the 2007 ASP World Title in Brazil with a tour stop to spare. His main sponsor Rip Curl proudly chants, "Lightning Strikes!" and Australia finally has its hands on the ASP World Title again.
Mick's early days saw him likened to Kelly Slater for his ability to take on a diverse range of waves and competitors; only time will tell if Mick can make like Slater and rack up world titles. A member of the talented trio known as the Cooly Kids (which includes fellow ASP World Tour campaigners Dean Morrison and Joel Parkinson who all grew up in the Queensland suburb of Coolangatta), the toe-headed speed-demon they call "White Lightning" will fight to defend his well-deserved title from the rest of the ASP Top 45 in 2008.

Had the coolest day on Sunday, watched Wimbledon, then went to Gustavo Kierten's house and played some tennis before going to a soccer match. Life is good. Off to J-Bay tomorrow, hope I sleep on the flight. Hit you with the surf report when I get there. Woooo!

It's cold on the Goldy this morning lucky for coffee to warm you up. Had a little surf, it was ok. Then I cleaned out my garage, got rid of a bunch of old boards. Now it's time to get new ones. I love new sticks, it's like Christmas.
Just had a surf at Teahupoo, it was solid today 8 to 10 feet, some guys were really going for it. Laury Towner got the wave of the day. Stay tuned...

Mick missed the Brazil event this year, using the time back home to rest a worn and weary body. But with the Triple Crown starting in a few days, he's on the mend, on his way to The Rock, and will be back in froth mode before you know it. Wade Tokoro's been carving out his winter quiver, so he boards should be set too. Stay tuned as White Lightening strikes Hawaii.
I'll be honest mate, I am busier than a blue assed fly on a shit pile. I don't even have time to scratch
my bum. The wedding's coming quick, the season comes right after that. But I'm not complaining, it's been a great off season.
